Product Description
Grade 316L Stainless Steel Coil is standard molybdenum austenitic stainless steel have lower carbon percentage. Addition of molybdenum gives better corrosion resistant properties and lower carbon percentage offers high weldability & formability. However, there is no appreciable price difference between 316 and 316L Stainless Steel.
Type 316L with .03% carbon maximum resembles Type 316 except for its extra-low carbon. Type 316L has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following stress relieving or welding. 316L will become sensitized when exposed to service temperatures of 800°-1650°F. When service conditions require improved corrosion resistance where annealing is not feasible and the welding of thicker sections is needed, Type 316L is favored over Type 316. Abrasion resistance is favorable.
